About Lodging and Transportation
Clearwater Beach, FL. is a popular destination, so finding accommodations should be quite easy. Ideally, you should find lodging on Clearwater Beach, but if you find lodging in Clearwater near Clearwater’s Hot Yoga 365 that should be sufficient as well. The suggested lodging is as follows: Vacation Rentals by Owners or Clearwater Beach Cottages. There is no need to rent a car in Cleatwater for we will have car pools arranged prior to the retreat. We can even arrange a car pool from the Tampa airport on Thursday for arrivals and on Sunday for departures. Please notify Ana if you would like to participate in car pools.
About Food
In general, you should allow two hours for your food to digest before practicing restorative yoga. The schedule has been planned around this regiment. The best diet for yoga is a vegetarian diet and most yogis recommend not eating a full dinner meal; just a light snack to keep your stomach fire healthy and vibrant. Hydration is paramount so make sure lots of coconut water and healthy water is available for you. Foods that have artificial ingredients and that are highly processed interferes with the restorative yoga practice. The recommended restaurant and grocery is Nature Food Patch. Also, bring a snack for the afternoon restorative yoga practice. It could be very simple and nutritious, like an apple or an avocado.

About Kumomi Art and Karen Elaine
What is Kumomi?
Kumomi™ is a creative process which combines the randomness of spontaneous painting with the control of mindful drawing as a meditative art form. You don’t need to be artistic to receive the benefits of Kumomi. The goal is not necessarily to create an art masterpiece but to enjoy the creative process, relax the body and open the mind. If you practice Kumomi regularly you will very likely see improvements in your mental, physical and emotional well being.
Kumomi is the combination of Japanese characters for “cloud” and “to see” so it essentially means “cloud gazing.”
Finding Meaning in Randomness
Imagine lying flat on your back on a freshly cut lawn on a warm spring day watching clouds drift slowly across the blue sky changing shape as they float by. You may see the shape of a duck, a heart, a boat or an angel. The Kumomi process brings the essence of cloud gazing combined color, line and music to invoke a merging of the senses for a mind expanding experience.
Karen Elaine is an artist, author, blogger and designer widely known as Karen Elaine Thomas. In 2004 she started blogging after she was diagnosed with breast cancer and her blog documents her healing journey and life of creativity.
Karen combines her experience as a fine artist with her passion for paper to create unique and distinctive paper crafting techniques. She teaches art and craft workshops at trade shows, events and retailers throughout the United States. Karen has been the creative force for Yasutomo, an art and craft supply company since 1997. Last year, she developed Splash Ink, a color mixing system in which you can create an infinite amount of colors using only four basic colors.
She is the author of Origami Card Craft published by Random House and several paper crafting books and is featured on DVD’s and craft television shows.
Karen is the founder of One Thousand Cranes for Hope where strands of origami cranes are sent to people who face serious life and health challenges.
